Founded in Brisbane in 1999 Universal Store is an omnichannel retailer of global and domestic, third-party and owned brand, youth apparel. Universal Store operates stores nationally with a focus demographic of 15-25 year old male and female shoppers.
In October 2018 Five V Capital invested in Universal Store in partnership with a consortium of specialist retail operators. Five V supported the management team of Universal Store to continue on their strategy of investing heavily in the development of an online channel that would complement strong in store performance. Alongside digital investment the business also continued with a roll-out of additional brick and mortar stores growing the network by c.35% during the time Five V has been a shareholder.
In November 2020, Universal Store was listed on the ASX. The business navigated rolling lockdowns successfully through 2020 and 2021 and has continued to perform strongly. Five V exited its remaining stake in August 2021.
